May 23, 2012 - That could work too
CombatRobot11 Says:
May 23, 2012 - they seem pretty cool to me, maybe they don't need better guitarists, they might just need to learn as they go along.
DeafeningSirens Says:
May 23, 2012 - So we don't disagree. No use in arguing. Both Red and Breaking Benjamin have great songwriting and have consistently come out with great albums. I just wish they'd get rid of the musclehead twins and get people who are better guitarists, but I guess they need them to give the band a pretty face (e.g. a bad-ass image). Even Christian alt rock is no exception to the image-focused music industry.
CombatRobot11 Says:
May 23, 2012 - yeah, that's how lots of bands are these days
DeafeningSirens Says:
May 23, 2012 - I agree. I mentioned Rob Graves and Jasen Rauch-- they are what made Red great. Yes, I called Red great. Like I said, their albums are very good. It's just that most of the talent is from the behind-the-scenes people-- not the guys that you see on stage. Red as a whole isn't just the band. Graves and Rauch aren't technically part of the band, but they are part of Red. See what I'm saying?
zBOOSTERz Says:
May 23, 2012 - no prob guys im here to help lol :)
DeafeningSirens Says:
May 23, 2012 - When I said Red wasn't that talented, I meant the band members. The people you don't see: the producer of the album and the director of this video-- they are all talented. Jasen Rauch, the former rythm guitarist, also seems talented. He still writes for the band. Notice I haven't said anything negative about the songwriting.
CombatRobot11 Says:
May 23, 2012 - I liked both of them live, I mean, yeah, it's not the best guitar work i've ever heard, or the best singing, but these guys made it in this industry, that has to mean they have talent, they aren't some horrible unoriginal band.
DeafeningSirens Says:
May 23, 2012 - Yes, but Breaking Benjamin is much better live. The musicians are very capable, and Ben Burnley is full of talent. He can sing much better than than Red's lead singer, he can pull of the growls and inject emotion into his songs without sounding cheesy, he can play guitar while he sings, and he writes everything. Red is a studio band that relies on their talented producer, Rob Graves. As a result of the production, their albums are actually very good.
CombatRobot11 Says:
May 23, 2012 - Breaking Benjamin is talented, the only thing is i find it strange when you say that Red is untalented even though they sound similar to Breaking Benjamin
DeafeningSirens Says:
May 23, 2012 - I agree for the most part. I said I like their style-- they just aren't very good live. What I'm implying is that really depend on production from their producer, who does a huge chunk of the writing. Nicki Minaj does write a lot of her stuff. She used to be an underground rapper. I'm just saying that overall the band is not that talented. I think other bands in their genre, like Breaking Benjamin for example, are much more talented.
CombatRobot11 Says:
May 23, 2012 - what you say is true, lots of people can scream and lots of people can play guitar, what you're implying is that Red is just like any other band out there, which they're not, they have original style, I bet Nicki Minaj has a bunch of songwriters writing songs for her, these guys write music on their own, and that's hard to do, It adds to their style, Nicki Minaj sounds just like any other of the extremely popular rappers out there.
SpLaTTyDaDDy Says:
May 23, 2012 - U said u wouldnt call them talented how is that not sayin that the drums and guitar isnt a talent? Lol flexing there muscles I dont think red walks around like scott steiner and hulk hogan.
DeafeningSirens Says:
May 23, 2012 - I think she does have talent, and I also think she's a disgrace. I didn't say playing drums and guitar is not a talent, but these guys are pretty amateur considering how popular they are. Plus if you think about it, these guys flexing their muscles to give them a "bad-ass" image isn't too different from that slut shaking her big ugly ass
DeafeningSirens Says:
May 23, 2012 - Yes, lots of people can rap horribly. I'm not sure what your point is.
DeafeningSirens Says:
May 23, 2012 - Again, I'm not a fan of her by any means. Still, rapping isn't easy, and she can do it competently. If you don't know what she's talking about, that's your fault. Of course if you're used to your lyrics being completely on the nose, then it's understandable :)
thexmeta29 Says:
May 23, 2012 - Both are wrong. The machine is the world.
xXMusicForeverXx1 Says:
May 23, 2012 - You must seriously be insane. Seriously, I have no idea what Nicki Minaj is talking about half the time in her song, she sucks at rapping, so don't say she has talent. RED can beat her 100x more. RED has more talent than Nicki Minaj will ever accomplish
TortugaDoei75 Says:
May 23, 2012 - Was at the Purple Door Festival probably 6 years ago when they first got big. The guitarist (Guy Who Dies in the video) flung his guitar around his body and smacked the singer in the head. Didnt think anything of it and he kept singing. Eventually blood rolled down his head and face. And still kept singing (Screaming.) It was awesome..
sh9683 Says:
May 23, 2012 - my absolute favorite song by red, great political message too, the machine is the government, or satan
